Hip-Hop for the Holidays 2024

Hip-Hop for the Holidays is an event I started back in 2012 alongside The Crew (now Bandwagon). It serves as a toy drive to benefit Toys for Tots of Weld County. Having benefited from programs like Toys for Tots in my youth, I believed that using my platform as a performer to create something meaningful for families in need during the holidays was an easy decision to make.

Fast forward 12 years, and we are now preparing for the 2024 iteration of Hip-Hop for the Holidays, featuring headliner Steelo Bass. I chose Steelo Bass as this year's headliner due to the tremendous effort and dedication he puts into his craft; the decision was a straightforward one. The show will also feature local artists JMG, Stew is Endo, Diez de Leon, Doogie, YK, Israel Lucero, Tre the Third, and Joe Rhodes. Each of these artists was selected not just for their talent but also for their commitment to our community throughout the year. I believe this event serves as a final thank you to these artists and provides them a platform to use their talents for a good cause.

I am extremely passionate about this event, and over the years, we have developed a strong relationship with Toys for Tots as a result. I want to personally thank Rick Hartman for trusting me with this event when we first started, and I would also like to express my gratitude to Christina, who became involved after Rick's passing and has shown the same passion for the event as both Rick and I have.

From a design perspective, I decided to incorporate holiday themes. The deep red background with a snowflake pattern seemed like the perfect choice. To enhance the design, I wanted to create the illusion of a present being opened, so I added a paper tear texture that reveals a cardboard box underneath. This torn paper design also showcases the names of the artists featured in the show.

Here are a few photos showcasing the artist who performed at this event. As always, thank you to the Moxi Theater for hosting this event and many others throughout the years. I would also like to express my gratitude to all the artists and everyone who came out to support this cause. Toys for Tots of Weld County was truly grateful for the contributions we were able to gather at this event.
